Rules And Regulations

  1. Ducks will be dropped into the Boardman River at the Union Street Bridge, Traverse City, Michigan at 4:00 pm on Thursday, (Kids Day), of the National Cherry Festival.

  2. A number will be attached to each duck corresponding to the number on an adoption paper. Multiple duck entries from one adoption paper will be assigned additional duck numbers for identification. The adoptive parent's name who appears on the adoption papers corresponding to the first ducks plucked from the river will be awarded prizes, (you do not need to be present to win).

  3. Promoter reserves the right at its sole option to substitute prizes of comparable value.

  4. The promoters are not responsible for any interference to the progress of the ducks down the river by either natural obstructions or intrusion of observers. Participants are not allowed to touch the numbered ducks at any time and the participant's corresponding ducks will be considered disqualified if such interference occurs.

  5. Adoption papers can be completed online at http://tc-optimist.org/duckrace/ or through any of the authorized participating youth organizations and their chosen outlets.

  6. Ducks can be adopted for $5 each duck or by the 6 quack, ($25 for 6 ducks). Purchases are non-refundable.

  7. Winners will be announced on the river's edge at the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce, 202 E. Grandview Parkway, Traverse City at approximately 4:30 pm on Thursday, (Kids Day), of the National Cherry Festival. Entrants will, where necessary, also be notified by United States mail or by telephone. Duck Race participants need not be present to win.

  8. By entering, entrants agree to release the Promoter and its members, agents, employees, and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes and or participation in the event of any kind.

  9. By entering, participants consent to promotional use of their names, pictures and likeness without additional compensation.

  10. Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries.

  11. This event is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

  12. All decisions and interpretations of rules and regulations will be made by the Promoter and its judgment is final.

  13. The Annual Friends of Youth Duck Race and its logo are registered trademarks of the Promoter and no other person or entity is authorized to copy or otherwise use them without the Promoter's written consent.

  14. If the Promoter determines, in its sole discretion, that the Duck Race cannot occur at the scheduled time for any reason, then the Promoter can postpone the Duck Race to another date and time by public announcement thereof.
